Be part of the circular economy with recycled plastic products

In this issue of Building Update, we are delighted to select multi-award-winning Kedel Limited for our Best of Britain Award.

It’s been a fantastic year for Kedel: with double awards in the Feefo Trusted Service Awards 2024. The Burnley-based manufacturer was the proud recipient of the Exceptional Service and Gold Trusted Service Awards 2024. These awards recognise exceptional customer experience across the board, which has been at the heart of Kedel operations since inception.

Kedel is a market-leading manufacturer and distributor of recycled plastic products, outdoor and park furniture. With a focus on sustainability, Kedel has been recognised by the industry and won the ‘Best Recycled Plastic Product’ at the National Recycling Awards back in 2015. Since that time, the family business has expanded, with a product range now serving a wide customer base including Local Government, Housing Associations, education, construction and domestic sectors.

The three founders are brothers: Kieran, Dermot and Lewis Walch and with a mission to bring sustainable products to the foreground, the trio have made Kedel products the ‘industry’s products of choice,’ “We manufacture plastic wood made from waste polystyrene, and we are also suppliers of many other types of recycled plastic profiles from other manufacturers. We stock tongue and groove boards, plastic sheet materials, decking, cladding, ground reinforcement and drainage grids, fencing and gates. In addition, we make a wide range of outdoor furniture often combining different types of recycled plastic into one product. These products include benches, tables, picnic tables, notice boards, to name just a few. We also offer design services and have a large flatbed CNC (computer numerical controlled) machine for cutting and shaping to the CAD design parameters supplied by our customers or created for them by our in-house design team.” explains Lewis.

Using recycled plastic not only greatly contributes towards the reduction of carbon footprint, but companies also see a significant reward on their return. Recycled plastic products are rot-proof, with no cost of ownership, no maintenance, labour, material or replacement costs.
That’s great news for all end-customers such as Housing Associations – Kedel plastic fencing panels for example, don’t need the panel replacements that wooden ones typically need. The full sustainable range of fencing panels are rot-proof and non-absorbent, making them easy to clean. At the first sign of frost, they don’t crack and with all the heavy rain we’ve had across the country recently, they don’t crack or splinter. The benches and picnic tables are ideal for educational establishments, providing robust outdoor furniture, without the hefty maintenance price tag.
